Field Built Large Wine Tanks

This 150,000 gallon field built wine tank is a double wall insulated tank. Because it is 30' x 30' dimensionally, it is too large and too heavy to be trucked, so we built it onsite in seven weeks using a crew of four. We normally build large tanks on a flat spot at the winery, standing up an a-frame structure and setting up a job box and construction trailer on a pad nearby. For this project, existing tanks were in the way, so the new tank was moved a very short distance over the top of other tanks. For high-volume blends and fermentation, tanks at 300,000 gallons or larger are cost-efficient.

Each tank is custom-built to your specifications. Jim Belli and Mark McDowell bring years of experience working with owners and vintners to their custom fabrication of tanks, catwalks and equipment. They can provide valuable input in planning tank sizes, tank farm layouts or tank and catwalk configurations. Jim and Mark use Computer Assisted Design (CAD) and supervise fabrication of the approved designs in the Healdsburg facility. Mark McDowell provides in-depth information on dosage meters (ox boxes) for micro-oxygenation systems and he can advise on integrated catwalk/tank systems for labor efficiency.
